  • First lady Melania Trump starts her days at the White House around 5:30 a.m., works out, makes Barron breakfast, and gets him ready for school.
  • She eats a healthy, fruit- and vegetable-focused diet, and tries to get a full night’s sleep every night. To relax, Trump has been known to indulge in a bubble bath.
  • During the coronavirus pandemic, she and her family are confined to the White House under public health orders like the rest of the country.

While her husband has sought out a very public life, first lady Melania Trump has chosen to remain fairly private.

She spends a lot of her time caring for their 14-year-old son Barron, calling herself a “full-time mom.” Since moving to the White House in 2016, Trump has also taken on the many duties required of first ladies, from decorating the residence to planning official events.

But since the coronavirus pandemic has largely put a hold on Melania’s public appearances and event planning, the first lady has seemingly become more outspoken through her social media posts.

At a time when millions of Americans have been told to stay at home and avoid spreading the virus, Trump has taken to Instagram and Twitter to address the country – marking one of her most vocal moments in nearly three and a half years as first lady.

On Sunday, April 26, she is celebrating her 50th birthday.

Here’s a look into Trump’s daily routine at the White House both before, and since, the pandemic took hold.

Trump rises not long after 5:30 a.m., when her husband wakes up. The couple sleeps in separate bedrooms.

On a typical day, Trump would get their 14-year-old son, Barron, ready for school, which often entails ensuring he has his homework in his backpack. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, Barron’s school has switched to remote learning.

Trump considers raising her son her “first job.” Along with getting Barron up and ready for school every day, she also makes his breakfast and lunch.

When they lived in New York, Trump would drop Barron off and pick him up from school. She also would help him with homework and attend his school events.

On March 20, Barron celebrated his 14th birthday under quarantine. Showing off her pride, Melania posted an image of two large silver balloons of the number 14, with the message “Happy Birthday BWT.”

To stay fit, Trump works out daily in her home, usually in the morning. She has said she does pilates, walks around wearing ankle weights, and plays tennis.

Trump follows a healthy diet. She reportedly eats seven fruits per day, and often starts with a smoothie or oatmeal for breakfast.
